Hello! How
are you people? I’ m enjoying the last hours of a very hot Sunday. Last week I was
thinking what I could write about and I couldn’t think of any idea which
sounded interesting. Finally, I decided to write about one of my passions which
is interior decorating. I know it may sound stupid to some of you, but it’s
something I really like and enjoy watching and doing. One of the reasons why I like
decorating is because sometimes we complain about the place where we live: it’s
small, old, ugly, boring, etc. But there are many different ways in which we
can change that place, and even with just few elements. Nowadays I live in a
small apartment we built some years ago behind my mother’s house. It’s very
small, but it is extremely cozy. I really appreciate it because it’s a space I have
for my own and in which I can show my interests and style. I love keeping
things that belonged to my grandparents, pictures, smells, colours, plants, and everything
that make me feel like I’m at home. Most of the things I have at home are
recycled or gifts from my family of things they used to have at their houses,
so they all have a special meaning for me.
I don’t know what you think, but I believe
that our houses, or bedrooms, are a reflection of our personality. I know that
sometimes we dream (or at least I do) with huge and radiant houses by the sea
or in the mountains, but I also believe we should take advantage of what we
have in this moment and try to make the place where we live as pleasing for
ourselves as we can. After all, that’s the place in which we can share with
family, friends or just with ourselves, and we deserve to feel at ease with it.
So, I hope you feel inspired and show some love to your homes; sometimes it only
takes us a few minutes to change something that can make us feel better for a
long time.
Whenever I go to your house, I am really ashamed. My parents refer my bedroom as a battlefield after a war! So, imagine!! I always say that I should tidy my bedroom but I never did it! And, I think it's true what you said Nati! Our places reflect our personality! I am a very lazy person, and that's the reason why my bedroom stays in its condition from the very beginning till the present! haha
ResponderEliminarI agree with you Natalia! But, I have to say that I am very much like Wan Shu! I am lazy as well and my bedroom is actually the reflection of it! In fact, I like having things well - organized and in order. But I think that I am too radical: whether I have everything in absolute perfect conditions or I have a mess. Well, I'm on the mess stage right now, haha! But it is true that we should try to make the place where we live look as nice as possible, even if it is a small place or just a bedroom.
ResponderEliminarOh! How nice! I also like those things but I am not good at doing things with my own hands. But I love having unique things in my bedroom that make it special.
ResponderEliminarIn relation to what Wan and Lau said, I must admit that I'm a bit obsessed with organization. I need to have everything in the place things are due to be. However, there are times I don't feel like organizing anything and this depends mainy on my mood and on the situation I am living at that moment. I have my days you know, and If I am not in the mood and, in addition to that, my bedroom is not in order, EVERYTHING CAN GET WORSE! haha.
Cada loco con su tema, right?
Hi Nati, I also think that changing furniture from one place to another in the house is nice because it stops being so monotonous. It is nice to change one´s house decoration from time to time. I also live in a very small department, with my boyfriend, and every year we have the furniture replaced. I like your hobby of collecting and displaying objects that have belonged to your family members in your house.
ResponderEliminarI really liked your post! I did not know about your being keen on interior decorating; I consider myself not even an amateur on the discipline, just and admirer and enthusiast; I hope one day I can have my own place and decorate it as I want.
ResponderEliminarWhenever I need some help with my house and stuff and know who I can call, haha!! Just kidding. Anyway, it is really interesting what you have posted Nat. I used to dream of a big house, full of space and a big garden (with a pool obviously). But then I realized that small places, such as an apartment, are warmer and cozy (I love the word COZY, it sound cute, haha) and if you are able to organize and distribute everything in an harmonic way, then it´s a good place to live in. I´m not a fan of decorating or the kind but I always want my house to be ordered and tidy.
