Hello! How are you? I’m really happy
because last Wednesday was the Teacher’s Day and the first one I could experience
as a teacher and not only as a student. Because, although I still haven’t
finish the Teacher Training Program, I have started working this year and I
felt really happy because of all the people who greeted me and also because I
could share a really gratifying moment with my future colleagues.
But well, what I wanted to share with you
is something that is really important for me. Since last April I don’t eat meat
anymore, and I don’t think by the moment I will in the future. The reason why I
tell you this is because sometimes it’s difficult to explain to others my
decision. I don’t do it because it is something fashionable nowadays. But
because, since some time ago, I have decided to dedicate some time to my
spiritual life. With this I mean to reflect upon some things in my life that
maybe in other moments I have never paid attention to.
Consequently, I realized there were some
things that I wanted to change, and one of them was the fact of not eating meat
anymore. This is mainly due to the fact that I love animals and I hate seeing
them suffer. So, after some time thinking and considering my options, one day I
took the decision and at least till today I haven’t had the need of eating an “asado”
any longer. Of course, this wasn’t a matter of one day to the other. The truth
is that I have never been a meat lover. Actually, I love vegetables and the
idea had been in my mind for many years.
I
don’t pretend others to do the same or to change the world by doing this, but I
would like people to try to understand that we are seeing the world from a
different perspective. If you haven’t seen this video, you should. It’s very
sweet! It's about a little boy who explains why he doesn't want to eat meat anymore (better that me, haha).
Have a nice weekend! Be happy!
Natalia
Happy Teacher's Day!!!
ResponderEliminarNati, I share this feeling with you! It has been very difficult for me to explain the reason why I am a vegetarian! For me, there is no need to eat meat. Sometimes people ask me: "Why don't you eat meat?"
And I couldn't find a reason, it's so natural for not to eat meat.
Why do I have to eat meat? That's the question!
I think it's great what you are doing because you are following your beliefs! It does not matter whether people understand or not your reasons why, what really matters is that you are trying to make a change in the world by setting the example!
ResponderEliminarI actually understand your point. I do not eat much meat, if I could, I wouldn't eat it at all. It is cruel how we kill those animals but I think it is positive that you stick to what you consider it's the best thing to do and put it into practice! ;)

ResponderEliminarAs Wan Shu, I totally understand you Naty. I stopped eating meat because I didn´t feel like eating it. I put this idea into practise at the beggining of last year and it lasted for 7 months, more or less. It was great. Even though I eat meat nowadays, I just do it on Sundays and ONLY if I´m in my house with my parents, which is actually something that rarely ever happens. There was some people who did not understand or share my ideas. They thought that one day I woke up saying: I DON´T WANT TO EAT MEAT ANY LONGER or that I did it because it was "fashionable". I just left them think whatever they wanted. It was their problem, not mine. If you happen to go to my appartment and open the fridge you will see that there is nothing but fruits, vegetables, milk, yogurt. NO MEAT AT ALL. So I encourage you to keep on doing what you believe. It is totally acceptable. If your body and soul feel ok with this, then you need nothing else. I´m thinking about going back to this lifestyle, by the way :)

Naty, you know that I do eat meat and I don't think I'll be caught by this idea of being a vegetarian as long as meat could be eaten. You said you are not a fan of asados and neither am I but I really like milanesas, chicken tacos and many other things that are made with meat. However, there's something I want to tell you. 1) You don't need other people to understand you. As you are doing now, you have to do what you think is correct and others' opinion shouldn't be relevant at all. 2) You don't need to explain anything to anybody if you don't feel like it. You manage your life as you want and you take the decisions you like. If others don't agree, it's their problem as Nadya said.
ResponderEliminarAs long as meat can be eaten, I agree with Agustina; I am a meat lover! what can I say? You almost make me feel bad for my taste for meat! But seriously, I totally understand you people in your decision. It takes a ver strong will to do that, since in our culture eating meat is a must from the momento our parents can start feeding us.
ResponderEliminarUp to now, I didn't know that many people who were a vegetarian. I should stop eating meat and see what happens. Maybe it would improve my life... who knows?
