Many of the things he said are known by many of us, but we never take a minute to reflect about if what we are doing is what we really love or if we are wasting our time on useless and shallow things. That's why, in my opinion, from time to time, we need an overdose of the ugly truth (with this I mean that our time is short and that dead may come at any moment) to realize that we should take advantage of the moments that really make us happy (which should be a lot!).
Another important thing Jobs made me think about if the fact that not every moment is beautiful and pleasing, but that there are times in which we think that life is cruel and terrible. Nevertheless, that shouldn't be a reason to stop believing in ourselves and in having faith in the future that things will get better. So, in my opinion the most important thing is to have faith in ourselves, in what we do, in the people we love, in the world in it self. Because, if from the start we don't believe in what we are doing, it won't have any sense to continue. There is always hope. We have to learn how to find it, even in the darkest moments.
Be happy!
Nati.

I agree with you! Sometimes I think that I am doing things that are useless but I continue doing them. Also, when we encounter difficulties, we tend to let them defeat us and that is not the way of overcoming the problems. As you said, there is always hope and I really believe that! I love the quote in the picture you share!!!
ResponderEliminarAs regards what you say, (that one of the main messages in Job´s speech is the one related to the compelling need to DO WHAT WE WANT), this is my idea:
ResponderEliminarI say that in our Judeo-Christian world, unfortunatelly we have been pervaded (oohh, the word we have to study!) by two ideas:
** whatever is funny and delightful... constitutes a sin.
**Second idea: we have to resign ourselves if we want to avoid being extremely selfish and self-centered.
Through the mixture of these two key premisses, religion has converted our lives into an inevitable path of duty, righteousness and stiff obedience of social rules. We really need to have guts to do what pleases us in real life.
That's true Nataly... no one ever wants to go through a bad experience in life. However sometimes we have to face really difficult moments but the positive thing about that is that they make us stronger.
ResponderEliminarYour reflection reminded me of one the videos we listened to in class this week; the one in which Candy Chang tells us about her project “Before I die I want to...". She maintains that being prepared for death makes things easier and less complicated since we know what’s important and what’s not. And that’s really similar to what you though when you watched the video and I completely agree with you. C’mon! Let’s be happier!

EliminarHere's Chang's talk if you wanna listen to it.
All this makes me wonder (and it has been mentioned in class) what are the real important things in life? are there small and big ones? do we consider things (why things?? not people, not moments, not feelings) from the same perspective?
ResponderEliminarI love what you have said!!! I especially love the quotation " the trouble is, you think you have time". And it makes me think that... the world goes faster and faster and we want to run with it. When we do that we tend to forget some important aspects of our life such as love, happiness and dignity. Start feeling proud of ourselves and enjoy what we have at the time we have it!!!
